01

Connect your assistant

Add NewsBeat to your assistant’s tools. Our setup guide walks you through the connection.

02

Ask in your own words

“What’s happening with Nvidia?” or “Give me a Bitcoin briefing.” No tickers or special commands to remember.

03

Understand the story

Your assistant uses recent headlines to explain the story, with dates and links when you need to dig deeper.

Your assistant needs to support custom remote MCP connections. Setup options vary by app and account. Find your setup path

Let your assistant know when to check.

Add a news preference to its instructions so it can look up recent developments whenever they help with your question. Tool choices depend on your assistant and its settings.

Less searching. More understanding.

Keep up without the headline overload.

Bring recent developments into company research, trading and prediction-market research, with the sources close at hand.

See the story, not the repeats

Short updates and grouped coverage help your assistant explain the main developments without repeating the same story.

Catch up since your last check

Ask what’s new since your last check. Your assistant can pick up from the previous update when it has saved that check.

Go straight to the source

Every headline includes its publisher, publication date and a link. Open the reporting and form your own view.

Updates are based on headlines, not full article text. Your assistant should flag missing or out-of-date coverage.

Built for agents that use the web

Agents can pay for data. Give them the news behind it.

Agents are learning to use services as they work. NewsBeat gives them a way to check what changed at a company or crypto asset, get a short update from recent headlines, and bring the reporting into the conversation. Available today through MCP and REST.

Before you start

A few things worth knowing.

Can I try NewsBeat before connecting an assistant?
Yes. Open the free live lookup, search for a supported company or crypto asset, and read its headlines with publisher links and dates. You can request a short headline-based summary there too. It uses the public API and needs no NewsBeat account, key or card. This tests the news service in your browser; your assistant needs a separate MCP connection.
What does NewsBeat do?
NewsBeat brings recent company and crypto news into your AI assistant. Ask “What happened with Nvidia?” and your agent can use recent headlines, grouped coverage and brief updates to answer. The public connection is free during early access.
Do I need to know how to code?
No coding is needed if your assistant lets you add a remote MCP connection. MCP is a way for an AI assistant to use an outside service. Add the NewsBeat address once, then ask questions normally. If your assistant does not offer this connection, you can explore news directly in the NewsBeat terminal.
How do I connect it to my assistant?
Open the getting-started guide and copy https://www.newsbeat.dev/api/mcp into your assistant’s remote MCP connection settings. The exact steps depend on the app. Test the connection, enable its news tools, and ask your first question. Pasting the address into an ordinary chat does not necessarily connect it.
Is NewsBeat free?
Yes. Public MCP and REST reads are free during early access, with no NewsBeat account, key or credit card. The public limit is 120 requests a minute. Your assistant may charge separately. A GitHub-issued key is optional for a seven-day metered REST trial; paid checkout is not live yet.
What is the seven-day API key trial?
It lets you test a REST integration in your own agent for seven days with up to $6 in usage credit and a 1,200-per-minute limit. The clock starts on the first metered REST call, not when you sign in. You can see the deadline and credit left with the key. When either runs out, keyed requests stop with a 402 response; remove the key to keep using the free public connection. Rotating a key does not restart the trial. The key does not unlock different news.
